I have been pursuing a spirtual path all my life, one that gives my life structure, something I can believe in wholeheartedly. Overlying that goal is the practice of taking what resonates with me and leaving what doesn’t, which applies to all the spirituality, religious and philosophical reading and practice I have done.
So I decided to write down what worked for me. I did it as a way of creating my own structure for my life. Its gets rather difficult to remember everything you have learned over the years, especially if you don’t practice them regularly. So my goal was to write something brief that encapsulated the highlights of what I believe, and how I feel I should conduct my life. It was also my goal to read it, study it, memorize it, and internalize it so successfully that I could call it up, rely on it, and use it on a daily basis, without thinking about it. In much the same way I imagine people who are deeply religious rely on their faith. But unlike traditional religions I wouldn’t have to decide which part of the teaching I would discard.
After creating the Book of Aedan, my partner pointed out that I was probably not the only one grappling with these issues. And so the Alternative Alchemist was born. This site is my way of helping others on a spiritual quest decide for themselves what they believe in and how they will live their lives.
I hope it helps.
